In order to prepare for the next generation of bio-ethanol production, Global Foods became an investor in Agrivida in 2005. Agrivida is an agricultural biotechnology company developing energy crops designed to produce chemicals, fuels, and bioproducts from non-food cellulosic biomass.

Agrivida's technology enables the delivery of low cost sugars for the production of a wide variety of industrial biotechnology products. Agrivida's products should advance energy independence while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing the rural economy; and are part of the cellulosic ethanol industry.
