Projects / Wind

Global Foods has been partnering with a number of industry specialists (developers and financiers) to analyze and bid for wind projects in the Caribbean region. In 2008, it has participated in the tender for the Vader Piet project (30 MW) in joint venture with Evelop/Econcern.

In 2009, it made an offer for the acquisition of the Ecopower Bonaire (11 MW windpower and 14 MW (bio) diesel), when it was put up for sale as part of the bankruptcy procedures of Econcern. Even though Global Foods submitted the best bid out of seven bidders, and entered exclusive negotiations with the receiver, it eventually decided to put the procedure on hold, awaiting the outcome of important project decisions and discussions.
