Projects / Algae

In follow-up to the group’s experience with the establishment of a jatropha R&D plantation in Ethiopia, it decided to start actively following the developments alternative biodiesel developments, such as algae production.

Algae, similar to sugar cane, can be processed into both food and biofuel at the same time. Whereas the production of algae for food (as well as feed and farma) purposes can already be economically feasible, the production of algae-based biofuels will require substantial further development.

Cooperation

Global Foods has been working with companies and research institutes such as Wageningen University in the industry to consider opportunities for pilot plant projects.
