Since 2008, Global Foods has been discussing investment opportunities in the field of biomass with a number of start-up companies and projects. Through its shareholding in CNAA, it is involved with the building of some 224 MW capacity for the production of bio electricity from sugar cane.

In Western Europe, and particularly the Netherlands, the company is looking at production, trading and processing of biomass. Thus far, Global Foods has looked at supply of wood-based biomass from North America to Europe; production of wood pellets from biomass; torrefaction of wood pellets; and production of bio electricity from biomass.
